1. Who can apply?

  • The AYF Youth Corps is open to all youth over the age of 18-26 who are motivated and enthusiastic about helping Armenia.

2. How long is the trip?

  • The Youth Corps program is 6 weeks long, starting the second week of July and ending the third week of August.

3. Where will I be staying?

  • During the volunteer portion of the trip, Youth Corps participants have stayed in a house with shared facilities. During the sight-seeing portion of the trip participants have stayed in hostels, usually sharing a room with 1-3 other participants.

4. How much does the program cost?

  • Cost of participation may vary year to year, an average cost can range from $2,000-$2,500 which includes: round-trip airfare, accommodations, transportation, food while volunteering, supplies for the program and your pocket money.

5. I have family in Armenia, will I have time to see them?

  • Yes, usually you will get a few days of free time in Yerevan, and you can use that time to visit your family.

6. I’m not in AYF, can I still apply to the program?

  • Absolutely! The program is open to all youth 18-26.

7. I can’t afford the cost of the trip, but still am interested in participating in the program, should I still apply?

  • Yes, we have fundraising opportunities and would love your help.

8. My Armenian is not that great/know very little, will that be a problem in volunteering?

  • The group will have participants who will be able to help you communicate as well as the group leader.

9. What is a group leader?

  • The group leader will be the main communicator with the other organizers in Armenia. He/she will make sure everything runs smoothly and will guide the group in any way necessary to make sure everyone has a good time and the volunteer project gets done. They will also be the contact for emergency purposes etc.

10. I’ve already been to Armenia, can I just join the volunteer portion of the trip?

  • We like to keep the group together, this adds to the cohesiveness of logistics and overall bonding experience. Contact us if this applies to you.
